Launch of a new community scheme to try and upgrade the broadband network for around 700 properties in the Honington exchange area.
Openreach has recently launched a new community scheme to try and upgrade the broadband network for around 700 properties in the Honington exchange area which includes properties in Honington and the wider area including Barkston, Syston, Hougham, Hough on the Hill and Carlton Scroop.
If successful, Openreach will roll out full fibre broadband - a considerably faster and more reliable broadband service than the existing part-fibre, part-copper lines that serve the majority of properties in the villages today. Openreach is currently rolling out out this technology across the UK and the Government has made some funding available to help subsidise the rollout and ensure that rural areas don’t miss out. Openreach need the community’s support to help secure this funding and take advantage of this one-off opportunity.
Openreach will be visiting the area regularly over the coming weeks to generate support but they'd also really appreciate any support the parish meeting is able to provide in helping inform local residents about this one-off opportunity.
